Quiet and silent study

Quiet study

The open areas in the Library are designated for quiet study. These are ideal when you want to pop in and find somewhere to work by yourself. There are quiet study spaces on all floors, which are not bookable - most of these have computers but some are left free so you can use your own laptop or device, if you wish to.  Please don't reserve spaces, and if you need to leave your desk please take your belongings with you - we have lockers available if you need somewhere to store your stuff.

We ask that you consider those around you, and keep noise to a minimum in these areas.

Silent study

Students wishing to work in silence can use the open access silent study room on the first floor of the Library. This is a noise-free zone!

You can also book the study carrels in the silent study room:

Noise in the Library

If you are experiencing noise or disruption in the Library, don’t suffer in silence!  Please let us know about it so we can help:

  • Send an email to librarynoise@leedstrinity.ac.uk
  • Let us know which Library you are in, and where in the Library you are working
  • We will do our best to respond within ten minutes during our library staffed hours
  • Outside of these hours please visit the Library Helpdesk and report any problems to Security staff

The Library is a quiet space for everyone to work in. We provide social areas and Group Study Rooms for those who need to talk, but noise levels do have to be kept low in all areas of the Library to enable everyone to work there.

Anyone making excessive noise in the Library may be asked to leave, as outlined in our Acceptable Use Policy and the University Student Conduct and Discipline Code:
